Meso-zeaxanthin (MZ) is one of the xanthophyll pigment carotenoids present in the center of the macula. Together with its well-known counterparts, lutein (L) and zeaxanthin (Z), they form the macular pigment – our natural blue light filter and antioxidant presence in the retina.
